Benchmarking Procurement Performance
Our benchmarking database holds information on more than 50 organisations.
More than 30 are in the public sector with the rest in the
private sector. The public sector organisations are a range
of local authorities, police forces and Central Government
departments. From the private sector we have organisations
in the manufacturing, food, finance and construction sectors.
Our
benchmarking approach uses 22 indicators, which are grouped
into 7 key areas. The 7 key areas are:
- The role of Procurement as perceived by the rest
of the organisation
- Procurement strategy and vision
- Procurement procedures and
working practices
- Performance & risk management
- Sourcing & supplier
management
- Systems support
- Structure & resource level
We use a bar
chart to show the benchmarking results. This gives clients’ a
clear picture of how we believe they are performing relative
to other similar
organisations.
