Qualitar - an overview
Since 2003, when Qualitar was formed, we have been using our experience and expertise to help clients extract the maximum amount of value their organisations have the potential to achieve from their purchasing activities. The most effective approach will depend on your situation, although we typically use consulting, workshops, mentoring, guides and free resources, which include the transfer of skills and knowledge.
We help and support individuals and organisations to purchase more value for less. Our aim is to focus our clients' attention on buying value and not merely the inputs that help create value, such as goods, works and services.
The considerable expertise and experience we deploy has attracted a diverse range of clients, especially those from the public sector, such as Local Government Association (LGA), South Bucks District Council, Sussex Health Informatics Service, Sussex Training Consortium, The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), West Midlands Centre of Excellence, The Meat Hygiene Service, The London Borough of Waltham Forest and Portsmouth City Council. Some of our clients are organisations wanting advice and support about how they can win more business from the public sector and we have also worked with several charities such as The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mark Allen and Dave Sharp, directors, have firsthand experience of the considerable effort needed to manage a charity effectively. Mark is a director of a charity, Gayle Mill Trust, and Dave was the Head of Procurement for a large national charity. Qualitar has been retained for at least three-years to provide Macmillan Cancer Support with advice and support on extracting the most value they have the potential to achieve from their purchasing activites.
Will Parsons, also a director, and Dave Sharp are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. Will is currently a member the CIPS's board of management, responsible for professional development. Previously, for three years, Will chaired the CIPS's fellowship selection panel reviewing fellowship applications and making recommendations to accept or refuse applications. Mark worked with Ken James, Business Development Director and then Chief Executive, of the CIPS for four-years, but never became a member despite being constantly pestered.
